I have always felt a sincere sense of pride being an American. Throughout my life I've looked back at the intentions of my founding fathers and believed I live in a country that holds opportunities that extend beyond race, economic background, or religious belief. The past eight years has, to say the least, weakened that belief. Beyond the most obvious historical and for me at least, wonderful results of tonight's election, I have been a witness to a country that has come back together after being so divided so strongly. It feels good to have the pride back and I'm looking forward to my country once again being a benchmark for democracy in the world.
